Not sure you need anything special on the tablet or ipad, splashtop and the server software do the work. I expect it to suck pretty bad but I've been blown away so far! Tomorrow I will try this from work and see how performance is. It's got performance slow-down but it works well enough to nearly set a high-score in my favorite game (I was really impressed with this, the response and play-ability exceeded my expectations)Īlright! I'd like to hear if anyone else has tried this and what your experience has been. There's glitches, noticeable when the ball travels long distances. Using Splashtop Gamepad THD on my Nexus 7, I am able to play this game near flawlessly. It's a single graphics card in this set up. That way, you hold your device in landscape mode and you see your computers desktop in it's native format, but when you open a full screen table you can rotate your device to portrait without Android forcing you to look at it sideways.Īs for the performance, I have a GTX650M (SLI normally) in my laptop. You can see where I set up the virtual keys on the screen in the picture below.Īlso, on your tablet/phone, it helps to have a toggle (widget or however you wish to achieve it) that locks screen rotation in LANDSCAPE. You can add tilt etc once you get more comfortable with the program. All I have set up in mine, currently, are the left and right flippers, coin insert, start, and launch. Open Splashtop Gamepad THD and map your keys. Set up Visual Pinball to the resolution you use on your tablet (in my case, 1280x720, though it runs fine at 1920x1080). You need patience! (Many of you already have it, Visual Pinball set up isn't easy to begin with) There is not the refresh delay with this application like most VNC apps, so this works perfect. It allows you to control your PC from your Android device remotely. This, on the surface, is just a "VNC" type program. You need an application on your phone/tablet called "Splashtop Gamepad THD" (only this version works, there's several Splashtop apps, but none of them let you run full-screen apps like video games like this does) - this costs money. You need a tablet or phone that uses a nVidia Tegra chip (I have a Asus Nexus 7 tablet) If it is SLI, you need to disable it (I don't know why it doesn't work in SLI) You need a computer with nVidia graphics (I know a lot of you do) I've been real big on Android for years now and the tasks it can do are simply incredible, I don't doubt that many of you are Android users as well, so I'd like to present some ideas, just something to think about!įirst off, there's a lot of things that need to be in place in order for you to be able to do this: But as I play more and discover more, my addiction grows and can't exactly be satiated 24/7. Most of the time I am playing desktop tables on my laptop, and that keeps me happy. Alright, I've been lurking around for a while and been wanting to build a cabinet, but in the meantime I have gotten creative with the ways I play Visual Pinball.
